Chania, Crete, February 9
Two young pupils were expelled from Chrisopigi Public Junior High on the grounds of creating a facebook group titled "How Much I hate Chrisopigi's Headmaster" counting as many as 100 pupils as members.
Both girls were punished according to a 1979 law, one of them was forced to immediate school change, which is top punishment under Greek School Law.
Punishments were imposed to young girls despite the fact that both pupils apologized and immediately removed facebook group when questioned in public in front of the general teacher assembly, which applied the convicting rule.
One year ago (31 January 2009) another young pupil was expelled out of a Greek school on the ground of mobile school use.
Minister of National Education and Religious Affairs Anna Diamantopoulou made no comment on the girls punishment issue.
